Japan Culture Day 2025 was a vibrant cultural exchange event held on November 8, 2025, at the Juventus Club in Addis Ababa.
Organized by the embassy of japan in collaboration with the Japan international cooperation agency JICA and the Japan Foundation, the event served as a major platform to strengthen bilateral ties and share Japanese traditions with the Ethiopian public.
Key Highlights of the Event
Live Music: Renowned Japanese shamisen artist Natsumi Yuzu made her debut visit to Ethiopia, performing traditional music, original songs, and popular anime tracks.
Martial Arts: Elite Ethiopian martial artists delivered high-energy Karate and Kendo demonstrations.
Interactive Experiences: Attendees participated in traditional Japanese festival games (such as origami and kendama), wore traditional clothing, and explored immersive cultural booths.
Culinary Stalls: The festival offered visitors a taste of authentic Japanese cuisine alongside traditional tea ceremonies.
Film Screenings: Running alongside the cultural day, the Japan Film Festival 2025 featured animated and live-action movies later in the evening, including Poupelle of Chimney Town and Let's Go Karaoke! at the venue.
The well-attended event successfully brought together thousands of Ethiopian citizens, students, and international expatriates to experience the unique overlap of Ethiopian and Japanese hospitality.
